I totally agree with Victor. While there are certainly some provacative and quality works in the show, I thought the show was very uneven in quality. So did almost everyone I talked to at the show, including artists who were included. One confided they were embarrased. That is a likely reason the show is almost entirely unsold as it's closing date approaches. Having ONE LOCAL art dealer juror (who must know many local artists and be able to identify their work) tainted the whole curation process and makes inclusion not only subjective, but downright arbitrary. No big city art museum would ever do that. They either have a jury of at least 3 to 5 or they invite someone from an out of the area museum who doesn't have personal relationships with local artists. PSAM needs to rise to the standards of respected art museums in many ways. This could be an easy major improvement for next year.
