GayC/DC will no doubt put on a fantastic show (organized by yours truly) at The Hood Bar and Pizza on Saturday, Feb. 24. While GayC/DC’s best-known member may be Chris Freeman (also of Pansy Division), the band’s drummer, Brian Welch, is a show of his own during GayC/DC concerts. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/gaycdcband. Brian Welch was kind enough to answer the Lucky 13; here are his answers. What was the first concert you attended?…

Casual local-music fans may not realize the Coachella Valley has a growing local hip-hop scene—including The Bermuda. I can personally say that if you haven't seen this trio perform before, you should check them out. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/therealbermuda. Taylor Bentz (MaddHatter) was kind enough to answer the Lucky 13; here are his answers. What was the first concert you attended? Kottonmouth Kings. What was the first album you owned? Blink-182, self-titled. What bands…

The guys in Right On Right On are tight musicians who play a blend of hip-hop, country and jam-band rock, with a few more genres thrown in, too. For my money, Right On Right On is one of the more amusing and musically entertaining bands to watch in the Coachella Valley. John Quinn, the band’s guitarist, stands out with his dreadlocks and face-melting guitar skills. For more information, visit www.rightonrighton.com. What was the first concert…

Hundred Forms has been getting consistent local gigs lately, and I’ve been trying to come up with a proper description of the band’s sound. The best I can come up with so far: “something fascinating.” The band includes elements of punk rock, desert rock and ’90s underground alternative. For more information on Hundred Forms, visit www.facebook.com/hundredforms. Larry Ellison, the band's guitarist—not to be confused with the guy from Oracle—was kind enough to answer the Lucky…

Aaron Ramson is well-known in the Coachella Valley music scene … for a bass player. The mighty Hawaiian bassist has played in various metal bands over the years, but is probably best known for his time in both Perishment and Mighty Jack. If you’ve ever seen Mighty Jack in concert, you probably know that every show is “Aaron’s last show.” For more information, visit www.facebook.com/mightyjackband. What was the first concert you attended? When I was…

Rick Jervis, the physician assistant at Executive Urgent Care in Indian Wells, is not only a medical professional; he has also been a professional musician. He once worked for Yamaha’s musical-instruments division, and also worked behind the scenes on the Jackson 5 Victory Tour in 1984. Full disclosure: I also work for Executive Urgent Care. During the day, those of us in the office can hear Rick blasting tunes from various genres, from jazz to…

Remember The BrosQuitos? While the band continues on, the name is no more: Frontman James Johnson recently announced the band’s name has changed to Sleeping Habits. Regardless of what they call themselves, the members of Sleeping Habits are great musicians with a bright future ahead. Stay tuned for more information, as well as new music, at www.facebook.com/sleepinghabitsmusic. James Johnson agreed to take the Lucky 13; here are his answers. What was the first concert you…

Michael Keeth is one of the busiest musicians in the Coachella Valley. He has multiple solo-performance residencies at places such as The Riviera, the Westin Mission Hills, bluEmber at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa, and Cork Tree. When he’s not performing solo, he plays with Arthur Seay and Mike Cancino of House of Broken Promises, and Derek Timmons of Sleazy Cortez, in a band called Death in Pretty Wrapping. For more information,…
